The One UI Watch 5 update for Galaxy smartwatches has introduced a Device Care feature that users can access from their wrists. The update also revamped this feature on the Galaxy Wearable mobile app. Here's an overview of this latest addition, what new things it brings, and what it's missing.
Before One UI Watch 5, users had access to a “Battery” menu inside the Settings app on their Galaxy Watches. Now, this menu's been renamed “Battery and Device Care” and offers a more complete set of tools.

One UI Watch 5 Battery and Device Care overview
The new Battery and Device Care feature in One UI Watch 5 contains four elements, three of which can be tapped for additional information and access to more features:
- A graphic summarizing whether there are any issues with your smartwatch (non-interactive).
- A Battery section (interactive).
- A Storage section (interactive).
- A Memory section (interactive).
Device Care – Battery
In essence, the Battery menu is almost unchanged. It's the same in One UI Watch 5 as in previous versions, except now it has a list of “Sleeping apps.” This list doesn't offer any user actions but shows you the apps that will run in the background occasionally.
Device Care – Storage
Similarly, Storage is the same as it used to be in One UI Watch 4, except Samsung moved it from the “About watch” menu to the new “Battery and Device Care” section.
Device Care – Memory
Finally, the Memory section is entirely new to Galaxy Watches and was introduced with the latest One UI Watch 5 update. Memory shows how much free RAM there is on your smartwatch and comes with a “Clean now” button that helps stop background apps to free up more RAM.
Device Care – Galaxy Wearable mobile app
With the addition of Battery and Device Care to Galaxy smartwatches, Samsung also changed its Galaxy Wearable mobile app accordingly. The Battery and Device Care menu inside the Wearable app now includes battery, storage, and memory graphs, just like you'll find on your smartwatch.
The only element missing from the Battery and Device Care section on smartwatches is the Diagnostics menu, which lets you perform tests to ensure everything on your watch is working properly. This feature remains exclusive to the Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Members mobile apps. At least for the time being.
If you're looking forward to testing these new One UI Watch 5 features and others, your options are to wait for the update to drop on the Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch 5 or to buy the new Galaxy Watch 6, which ships with the latest firmware out of the box.
