OnePlus has announced that it will unveil the OnePlus 12, the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone, on December 5, 2023, at an event in China that is scheduled to kick off at 04:30 PM China Standard Time (CST). Along with this, the brand has released images and a video of the upcoming phone to tease the device, which reveal its design, color options, and a bunch of features.
The images and videos confirm that the OnePlus 12 will have a curved display with a punch-hole mounted on the top-center portion of the screen. There will be a triple-camera setup at the rear consisting of ultra-wide, wide (primary), and telephoto sensors. The focal length of these cameras will be 23mm, 14mm, and 70mm respectively. That means the telephoto camera will offer 3x optical zoom.
OnePlus 12 to feature a periscope camera
The shape of the telephoto camera’s lens suggests that it will have a periscope design, which is usually seen to offer an optical zoom from 5x to 10x on smartphones, just like what we see on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. OnePlus, however, seems to be utilizing this design to offer only 3x optical zoom. It is also worth mentioning that the camera hump has the Hasselblad logo, suggesting that it will be optimized by Hasselblad, just like the last flagship smartphone from the company, the OnePlus 11.
As for the other features shown in the teaser media, the device will have an alert slider and a new design for the camera module, and it will come in three color options: white, black, and green. Leaks and rumors have revealed that the phone will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, an AMOLED display with 2,600 nits brightness, and wireless charging. On the price front, expect the OnePlus 12 to compete with the Galaxy S23+ and the upcoming Galaxy S24+, which is expected to debut in January next year.
