If you were looking for a feature-packed Android tablet from a well-known brand in the US or Canada, Samsung’s tablets were your only good options, and it’s safe to say that the South Korean tech giant enjoyed unrivaled success in the Android tablet market in the North American region. But that’s changing today with the launch of the OnePlus Tab in Canada and the US.

The OnePlus Pad was unveiled alongside the OnePlus 11R in February 2023. Back then, the company had revealed the specifications of its first-ever Android tablet. However, OnePlus had neither announced its pricing nor made it available to purchase. The brand had scheduled its launch for April 2023, and as promised, OnePlus has now revealed prices and pre-order details of the tablet.

OnePlus Pad price and pre-order dates

The OnePlus Pad comes in only one memory configuration: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage. It costs $479 in the US and $649 in Canada. The tablet will be available to pre-order from April 28 from the OnePlus website. While the company hasn’t announced shipping dates yet, it should start reaching customers in May 2023. People pre-ordering the tablet will get $50 off on the purchase of the OnePlus Buds Pro 2. Plus, they will also be able to enjoy a $50 trade-in credit.

OnePlus Pad specifications

The OnePlus Pad features an 11.61-inch display with a resolution of 2,800 x 2,000 pixels, giving it an unusual aspect ratio of 7:5. The screen has a 144Hz variable refresh rate and 500 nits peak brightness. The tablet has a 13MP camera at the rear with an LED flash, and it’s capable of recording 4K@30fps videos. The front-facing camera is an 8MP unit that can record 1080p videos at 30fps.

Powering the tablet is the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor. The device ships with the Android 13 OS and OxygenOS 13.1 customization. The OnePlus Pad packs a 9,510mAh battery with 67W SuperVOOC charging. You get four speakers, one at each corner of the device, in a stereo configuration. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB Type-C port. OnePlus is unfortunately not offering a cellular variant of the tablet. You don’t get GPS, either.

OnePlus Pad goes up right against Galaxy Tab S7 FE

With a price tag of $479, the OnePlus Pad competes directly with the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, which costs $449 for the 128GB storage option. The OnePlus Tab offers much better hardware compared to the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, and it would be fair to say that some people would go with OnePlus over Samsung in this case, especially if they want a better gaming device. The South Korean tech giant will either have to drop the price of the Tab S7 FE tablet to make it competitive or come with an all-new model to compete with the OnePlus Tab.

Also, let’s not forget that Pixel Tablet is also on its way to challenge the Galaxy Tab S8.
