OnePlus announced earlier this year that it would launch its first foldable smartphone “later this year”. Back then, the tech giant had neither revealed the phone’s name nor its specs. A couple of weeks later, we learned that the upcoming device might be called the OnePlus V Fold. A few days ago, we also got to see a couple of renders of the phone. However, there was no information about its features.
Well, a freshly emerged leak reveals the specifications of the OnePlus V Fold, and the news isn’t looking very good for Samsung.
OnePlus V Fold specifications leaked
The latest leak comes from MySmartPrice and OnLeaks, and they claim the OnePlus V Fold will have a 7.8-inch AMOLED screen with 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. That’s larger than the 7.6-inch unit on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Pixel Fold. If the information is correct, the OnePlus V Fold will manage to beat Samsung’s upcoming foldable phone when it comes to the size of the foldable screen. While the size of the outer display is still under wraps, it is said to feature a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate as well.
On the imaging front, the OnePlus V Fold is said to feature three cameras at the rear: a 48MP primary sensor, a 48MP ultrawide camera, and a 64MP telephoto lens. So, the two non-primary rear cameras on OnePlus V Fold will have a higher resolution than those on the Galaxy Z Fold 5. For selfies, the OnePlus V Fold will have a 32MP camera on the external display and a 20MP sensor on the inner screen.
The leak also reveals that the OnePlus V Fold will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, up to 16GB RAM, 256GB storage, a 4,800mAh battery, and 67W wired charging. That means the OnePlus V Fold will have more RAM, a bigger battery, and faster charging speed compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Will it be worthy to rival the Galaxy Z Fold 5?
Based on this information, it looks like the OnePlus V Fold might have better specs than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. However, Samsung will most likely have an edge when it comes to software as the company has been optimizing the UI for foldable devices for a few years now. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 might also be the first foldable phone to feature both dust and water resistance with an IP57 rating.
