After the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the original Galaxy Fold has started getting Samsung's latest security update. The South Korean firm has released the October 2021 security update in France. The new update is expected to expand to more European and global markets in the coming days.
The Galaxy Fold (SM-F900F) has started getting a new software update with firmware version F900FXXS6FUI5. While we don't have the official changelog for the update yet, we know that it includes the October 2021 security patch that promises to fix more than 60 privacy and security-related vulnerabilities. The update could also introduce bug fixes and improve the stability of the foldable phone.
If you live in France and use the Galaxy Fold, you might have already received a notification of the new software update. If you haven't received any notification yet, you can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and clicking on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually on your device.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy Fold in late 2019 with Android 9 Pie-based One UI software. The foldable smartphone received the Android 10 update last year and the Android 11-based One UI 3 update earlier this year. A few weeks ago, the phone received a lot of foldable-related software enhancements as a part of the One UI 3.1.1 update.
