The One UI Watch 4.5 firmware update is almost here for the Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch series. The company announced the details today and confirmed that the update should roll out “soon.” We don't know exactly when, but we do know what new features the update brings to the table. Here are our favorites.
One UI Watch 4.5 introduces a handful of new features designed to improve customization and deliver a more enhanced user experience. This includes new input methods, better watch face options, a more customizable home button, and more.
Full QWERTY keyboard with Swipe to Type capabilities
One of our new favorite features is the Swipe to Type option for the new QWERTY keyboard. Yes, this is a full QWERTY keyboard on a smartwatch, boasting swipe typing in addition to dictating and handwriting.
And although this new input method is our favorite, One UI Watch 4.5 allows users to seamlessly switch input methods at any time. These additions should make Samsung's latest smartwatches much better for communication.
More watch face customization options
One UI Watch 4.5 comes with more watch faces and customization options. With the latest update, users can now add watch faces to a favorite list multiple times, with each instance having its own options for colors, complications, and so on.
These favorite watch faces are saved in quick access, meaning that they can be enabled with ease without the user having to browse their entire watch face collection.
Better support for temporary functions and a more customizable home button
Last but not least, our third favorite One UI Watch 4.5 feature is the ability to adjust how long temporary functions stay on screen.
In other words, One UI Watch 4.5 allows users to define how long notifications and volume prompts show up. Furthermore, users can also set the home button to toggle the most commonly used features.
Samsung should start rolling out the One UI Watch 4.5 update at any moment. It will be available for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
