It's a good time to be a PlayStation fan. Sony recently launched its latest first-party exclusive, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, to critical acclaim and record-breaking sales, and next month, it will be launching an updated version of the PlayStation 5 console with a sleeker and smaller design.

The existing console, in the meantime, continues to make millions of gamers happy. And today, Sony has released a new software update for it, bringing improvements to the music and virtual reality experience and to voice commands in a 1.185GB package.

Going into specifics, PS5 System Software Update 23.02-08.20.00.06 adds a two-column layout for easier browsing of various music categories, playlists, and songs in the control center, adds an option that prevents users from unintentionally broadcasting their surroundings while broadcasting games with the PlayStation VR2, and updates voice commands so users can use the “What's new?” voice command to check for new features.

The update also improves the messages in and usability of some screens, though Sony doesn't go into more detail about that. PlayStation 5 owners will get a notification for the update on their console the next time they turn it on, and they can also manually check for the update from the console's Settings » System » System Software » System Software Update and Settings screen.
