Samsung Display, the world's biggest OLED display manufacturer for small and medium-sized panels, has announced the world's first 240Hz OLED display panel for laptops. The South Korean brand has started the mass production of the panel already, which means we could soon see various high-end laptops using it.
The company's first 240Hz OLED panel for laptops measures 15.6 inches diagonally and has a QHD resolution. It offers a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, 0.2ms response time, VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, true blacks, wide color gamut, and low blue light emissions.
OLED panels are already known for extremely fast pixel response times, and the combination of a 240Hz refresh rate should offer an incredibly immersive gaming experience.
The new 15.6-inch OLED panel from Samsung Display has debuted with the MSI Raider GE67 HX. The high-end Windows 11 gaming laptop features up to Intel's 12th Gen Core i9 CPU, up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU, up to 245W TDP (Dynamic Boost 2.0), plenty of ports, and better cooling than last year's model.
Jeeho Baek, Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung Display Strategic Marketing for Small and Medium Business, said, “Our new 240Hz refresh rate OLED meets and exceeds the demand of consumers who have long been waiting for a laptop with a high refresh rate OLED panel. The clear advantages offered by high refresh rate OLED panels compared to LCDs will be a game changer for the gaming industry.”
