Earlier today, Samsung announced that it is launching a newer and slimmer Super Fast Charger. The company has introduced a 25W Super Fast Charger with a slimmer and more compact design in South Korea. It looks similar to the existing 25W Super Fast Charger but comes with a slimmer design.
The new 25W Super Fast Charger from Samsung uses GaN (Gallium Nitride) material for a slimmer design. It supports USB PD 3.0 fast charging protocol, complete with PPS. It is also more power-efficient compared to the existing Super Fast Charger. According to Samsung, its newer charger consumes just 5mW in an idle state compared to 20mW of the older model. So, it offers more power savings. Moreover, its body is made using recycled plastic. So, the newer charger is better for the environment.
In South Korea, Samsung's 25W GaN charger is priced at KRW 25,300 ($19), and it comes in black and white colors. Samsung is also selling the charger with a USB Type-C to USB Type-C charging cable, and it is priced at KRW 33,000 ($24). The version with the bundled USB Type-C cable also comes in black and white colors.
Consumers can buy Samsung's new 25W Super Fast Charger with GaN in South Korea starting today, and it will be available through Samsung.com and Samsung Stores. Other authorized retailers will also start selling the newer charger soon. We expect this charger to launch in international markets within the next few months.
