Here's something everyone looking forward to Android 14 and One UI 6.0 on their Galaxy device will find interesting: it seems Samsung has started updating some of its apps with support for One UI 6. The Calculator app that comes preloaded on all Galaxy phones and tablets has apparently received a new update that adds Android 14 and One UI 6.x support, though the update doesn't seem to be widely available just yet.
In fact, none of the devices we use here at SamMobile have this Calculator app update available, which seems a little odd. Another thing that stands out here is that the changelog mentions that the update adds data unit (such as megabytes and kilobytes) conversion capabilities, but the Calculator app has had that feature for some time now.
It's not out of the realm of possibility that Samsung is beginning to update apps with support for the next version of Android and One UI ahead of time, as it's something the company has done often in the past, as well. But it is important to note that this doesn't necessarily mean that the One UI 6.0 beta program could start earlier than expected.
The One UI 5.0 beta program was officially launched in August last year while the One UI 4 beta program kicked off in September of 2021, so Samsung could release the One UI 6.0 beta sometime in, say, July. But we would recommend waiting for more concrete information on the One UI 6.0 beta schedule instead of getting too excited right now to avoid any disappointment later on.
Any new details on One UI 6.0 and Android 14 will be added to our dedicated tracking page, which you might want to bookmark and check regularly so you can stay in the loop.
