Samsung is the world's biggest smartphone brand, and it has been so for the past decade or more. It does exceedingly well in the Latin American markets as well. Now, a new report shows how well-placed the company is in the Latin American region and how far other brands are from the South Korean firm.
According to a new report from Abhilash Kumar, Industry Analyst at TechInsights, Samsung was the biggest smartphone brand in Latin America in Q3 2023, with a market share of 33%. There has been no change in its market share compared to last year. While the global smartphone market declined 0.3% compared to last year, the Latin American market improved at a pace of 14.2%. So, Samsung doing well here has been crucial for the company's overall business.
Motorola was the second-biggest smartphone brand in Latin America, with an 18% share of the market. However, its shipments dropped 2% compared to Q3 2022. Xiaomi was the third-biggest smartphone brand in the region, as the company had a 16% market share. The Chinese smartphone firm's sales improved a whopping 40% year-over-year.
Apple's performance improved by 7% in Q3 2023 in Latin America. Its market share was 10% in the region, which isn't bad by any means, especially considering that its ASP (Average Selling Price) is much higher than that of all the other smartphone brands in the world. Transsion, which sells smartphones under three brands (Infinix, Itel, and Tecno), has grown massively, at 167% year-over-year. It had a 9% share of the market.
