Samsung Electronics is a longstanding sponsor of the Olympics. It aligned the second Unpacked event of this year along with the games in Paris this year, unveiling new foldables, new smartwatches, earbuds, and the Galaxy Ring at the event on July 10.
With the Olympics due to kick off this week, Samsung Electronics Chairman Jay Y. Lee is expected to head to Paris and join the festivities, taking this opportunity to promote the handful of new devices that the company has unveiled this month.
Lee last visited the Olympics in 2012
Lee is expected to depart for Paris soon to attend the Paris 2024 Olympics kickoff on July 26. This will be the first time that he participates in the opening of the Olympics ever since the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom. He had visited with this family back then, including his late father Lee Kun-hee, who was the Samsung Group Chairman at that time.
Samsung is the only TOP (The Olympic Partner) sponsor from South Korea. Only one official sponsor in each business category is designated by the International Olympic Committee and they receive exclusive marketing rights. Samsung has remained a TOP sponsor for more than three decades.
Lee's visit to Paris will certainly see him supporting the national athletes from South Korea while also promoting the new Galaxy products, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Samsung has also delivered 17,000 Galaxy Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition units to Paris which are handed out to athletes participating in the games.
