Samsung Display showcased its latest technologies at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. It demonstrated a wide range of display solutions, from foldable panels and AR/VR solutions to ultra-bright TV screens.
The display manufacturing arm had five demo zones at CES. We visited each one and experienced these technologies first-hand. Below is a summary of some of the cool new display tech we saw and captured on camera.
Samsung Display CES 2025 Zone 1: IT OLED (tablets, laptops, monitors)
- IT Foldable: The IT OLED demo zone captured our attention through an 18.1-inch 4:3 QHD+ foldable laptop screen. Samsung says large foldable panels have evolved through the inclusion of technologies available on smaller foldable screens for smartphones, such as Eco2, VRR, and Y-OCTA.

One of Samsung Display's main goals was to reduce the power consumption of large foldable panels and improve the overall design. This new 18.1-inch demo device had better touchscreen functionality and a dumbbell-shaped hinge that contributes to a slimmer profile.
- 27-inch QHD QD 500Hz for gaming monitors: Samsung Display demonstrated the world's first panel to support a mind-boggling refresh rate of 500Hz. Designed primarily for gaming monitors, this panel also offers 99% DCI-P3 color coverage and VESA True Black HDR with up to 1,000 nits and full white 250 nits.
Samsung Display CES 2025 Zone 2: Foldable, slideable, stretchable concepts
- Slidable Flex Duet: Samsung showcased a slideable display that extends in both directions. When extended horizontally, it transforms from an 8.1 4:3 panel to a 12.4-inch 21:9 FHD+ screen.
- Slidable Flex Solo: A 17-inch 4:3 QHD+ screen that can slide in to become a 13-inch 3:2 panel for greater portability. Samsung says this panel can be used in a variety of cases, including RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment) for vehicles.
- Slidable Flex Vertical: Potentially a smartphone display for compact phones that can become larger. It has a 5.1-inch 16:9 format that slides vertically and becomes a 6.7-inch 22:9 FHD+ panel.
- Stretchable display: Samsung Display once again demonstrated its stretchable Micro LED technology. The panel has an 11-inch diagonal. Potentially, it could be used by the automotive market and for wearable devices. In Samsung's demo, an on-screen shark looked like it was pushing the stretchable panel toward the viewer.
Samsung Display CES 2025 Zone 3: Automotive
- Rear Black HUD: Samsung Display threw a different spin on the existing HUD (Heads-Up Display) technology that works by reflecting light off a mirror through an LED array and TFT. Samsung's Black Printing Display tech reflects high luminance onto a specially coated black printing area visible to the driver.
- 18.1-inch Bendable Center Information Display: Samsung developed a bendable Center Information Display (CID) with an 18.1-inch diagonal and a QHD+ resolution. It can bend to conform to the shape of the car's dashboard. Samsung also demonstrated another 18.1-inch CID that bends toward the driver.
- Dolby Vision Mockup: As reported last month, Samsung has decided to employ Dolby Vision for in-car displays. At CES 2025, Samsung demonstrated a 17-inch QHD+ automotive panel that meets the Dolby Vision standard, including >1,000 nits maximum and 0.005 nits minimum brightness.
Samsung Display CES 2025 Zone 4: AR/VR
- White OLEDoS: Zone 4 was smaller but not less impressive than others. It showcased only one product, i.e., a 1.3-inch OLEDoS display designed for AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) applications. This small OLEDoS panel has a staggering pixel density of 4,000ppi, can reach over 10,000 nits of brightness, and has a high color gamut of 96%.
Samsung Display CES 2025 Zone 5: QD-OLED TVs and monitors
- 65 and 77-inch UHD QD with 4,000 nits: Samsung Display has developed new large panels with enhanced brightness and efficiency thanks to new materials. The company not only improved these technical characteristics of QD-OLED but also the lifespan of these panels under the same voltage.
- 27-inch 4K QD-OLED: Samsung called this the world's first self-emissive 4K gaming monitor. It has a 240Hz refresh rate, 160ppi through Pico Inkjet technology, and DCI-P3 99%.
Samsung Display 2025 Wrap-Up
It should be noted that some of the technologies Samsung Display brought to CES 2025 won't get a commercial release anytime soon. Those foldable and rollable devices, for example, were prototypes meant to showcase the display technology but won't be developed into real products.
On the other hand, OLEDoS panels will likely become more widespread this year through the release of Samsung's upcoming XR headset. Furthermore, the gaming monitors and TV panels revealed at CES 2025 are also highly likely to go on sale sooner rather than later.
