Samsung and Google gave us the first look at their upcoming smart glasses today. The wearable devices run the Android XR operating system and are designed around Gemini-powered AI experiences.

The smart glasses will be available in two designs created in partnership with fashion eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. However, the first-generation models will not feature built-in displays. Samsung is reportedly also developing versions with single and dual displays.

So, when will they launch?

Samsung’s audio-only smart glasses are scheduled to launch in Fall 2026 (anywhere between September 23 and December 21). The company is also developing smart glasses with built-in displays, and those models are reportedly scheduled to launch sometime next year.

However, based on how ready the products appears, there is a possibility that the display-equipped models could be delayed until 2028.

Both the audio-only and display-equipped smart glasses will support prescription lenses, which should make them more practical for users who require vision correction.

Samsung’s smart glasses will compete with AI-powered eyewear from Meta developed in collaboration with Ray-Ban and Oakley.
