Samsung employees and execs make $100,000 a year on average

The annual paycheck for employees and executives at Samsung Electronics comes in at over 130 million won ($98,872) on average, according to an estimate from Korea CXO Institute concerning employee and executive salaries in 2022.

The data shows that Samsung employees, on average, earned roughly 8 million won ($6,083) less in 2022 compared to 2021 but around 10 million won ($7,609) more compared to 2020. The Korea CXO Institute reportedly calculated the average annual salary of Samsung employees based on a recent audit report. The report revealed that Samsung's labor costs in 2022 reached roughly 15.8 trillion won or around $12 billion. (via The Investor)

In addition, a regulatory DART filing revealed that Samsung paid its 11 registered board members a total of 22.5 billion won ($17.1 million) last year. Furthermore, Samsung's five in-house board members earned 4.36 billion won ($3.3 million) each on average, and its six outside directors received around 700 million won ($532,749) combined.

As for the total number of people working for Samsung in 2022, the company averaged 113,604 employees. Some joined the company in 2022, while others left it. Data shows that 12,957 people joined Samsung's ranks last year, while 6,189 people left.

Among the people that Samsung hired in 2022 was Kim Woo-pyeong – a semiconductor specialist that used to work for Apple. In December, Samsung also revealed that it hired the ex-Chief Design Officer of Mercedes-Benz China, Hubert H. Lee, to lead the MX Design Team.
