Samsung tried to make up for the GOS controversy sparked by the Galaxy S22 by optimizing the Galaxy S23 series for high-end gaming. The company took several steps to ensure that the new 2023 flagship phones offer an optimal gaming experience, said Won-joon Choi at MWC 2023.
The company took a few measures to ensure the Galaxy S23 offers a great gaming experience. For starters, Samsung teamed with Qualcomm to offer a single SoC for every region. It shelved its high-end Exynos project for the time being, although, premium Exynos chips could return in the future.
Another step to ensure great performance and stability was to improve the cooling solution for the Galaxy S23 lineup. All three models have larger vapor chambers.

Although users have noticed that disabling GOS can still lead to a higher average framerate in mobile games, the point of the Game Optimizing Service is to offer a good balance between thermal dissipation, performance, and battery life. And the Galaxy S23's GOS appears to emphasize framerate stability and pacing, which is a crucial element to a pleasant gaming experience.
All in all, the Galaxy S23 is one of the best mobile phones for gaming, and the uniquely-tuned “for Galaxy” Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset offers some unqiue advantages of its own, including a more powerful GPU and primary CPU core.
