The one product that Samsung fans had been looking forward to for a very long time has finally been unveiled today. Samsung had previously showed off the Galaxy Ring on multiple occasions, but the formal announcement came today at Unpacked in Paris. This is the first truly “new” mobile product from Samsung in years, so naturally, there's a lot of hype around.

At first glance, the Galaxy Ring doesn't look all that different from any other smart ring. It's smooth, round, and discreet in its placement of sensors, so much so that from a distance it won't appear at all that you're wearing a piece of tech on your finger, and not jewelry.

Galaxy Ring enhances health and fitness tracking for users

Available in Titanium Black, Silver, and Gold colors, it weighs 2.3g to 3.0g, depending on the size you choose. There are nine size options to choose from and Samsung provides a sizing kit to help you find the right fit. A very useful non-health feature is the ability to take photos or dismiss the alarm on a connected Galaxy smartphone by using a double pinch gestures.

Galaxy Ring boasts a collection of sensors and chips to provide 24/7 tracking of various health and fitness metrics. All of the data is then fed into Samsung Health where some AI fairy dust is sprinkled on it to provide you with detailed and actionable insights to improve your health.

The company says that the Galaxy Ring has its best sleep analysis capabilities, with new sleep metrics like sleep latency, movement during sleep, and heart and respiratory rate are tracked. This is coupled with a robust sleep AI algorithm that's great at understanding sleep patterns and providing an accurate Sleep Score.

In addition to auto workout detection, Live Heart Rate Check, and menstrual cycle tracking, the Galaxy Ring also provides a Heart Rate Alert when it picks up very high or low heart rates and even displays beats per minute.

Samsung Health, assisted by Galaxy AI, pulls in all of this data to generate an in-depth health report with metrics like the Energy Score, making it easier to determine where to focus your efforts to improve health. This score is calculated by tracking sleep, activity, sleeping heart rate, and sleeping heart rate variability. The app also offers Wellness Tips to provide personalized recommendations for improvement.

The company claims that the Galaxy Ring can provide up to seven days of continuous usage on a single charge. The device comes with a charging case for ease of use. The Galaxy Ring only works with Samsung phones running Android 11.0 or above. Prices start at $399 and you can pre-order the Galaxy Ring today ahead of its July 24 release.
