Samsung released the July 2023 security update earlier this week, and it is already available for some mid-range and high-end phones. Earlier today, the company published details about the new security patch, explaining which security flaws it has fixed. The company also downgraded the software update frequency of some Galaxy phones and tablets.
Galaxy A22 5G, A52 5G, and Galaxy Tab S7 FE will get updates more scarcely now
With the July 2023 security update, Samsung has downgraded the update frequency of the Galaxy A22 5G and the Galaxy F52 5G from quarterly to biannual. It means these two phones will get one security update every six months. Earlier, they used to get a new software update every three months. The South Korean firm has also downgraded the update frequency of the Galaxy Tab S7 FE from quarterly to biannual. So, the tablet will now only get one software update every six months.

This is usual for Samsung, and the company updates its software release frequency for Galaxy phones and tablets every few months, depending on the original release dates of those devices. Samsung is currently the best in software update support in the Android realm.
Usually, the company offers two years of Android OS updates and four years of security updates for low-end devices. The company offers three major OS updates and five years of security updates for most mid-range phones. For high-end phones and tablets, Samsung offers four years of Android OS updates and five years of security updates.
