Samsung is expanding its 5G smartphone portfolio in the United States with the addition of the Galaxy A23 5G. The company announced the phone today, and customers should soon be able to buy it online, through Samsung Experience Stores across the USA, and via all major network operators and retail channels nationwide.
Samsung says that the Galaxy A23 5G will be available starting today, September 1. Customers get only one color option, black, and the device starts at $299 for the storage variant featuring 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The Galaxy A23 5G is offered by AT&T and T-Mobile as well.
As of this writing, the phone is not listed on Samsung's online shop in the USA, but it should pop up on store shelves by the end of the day. Here's what you can expect in terms of hardware and software features.
Galaxy A23 5G specs and features
The Galaxy A23 5G is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging capabilities, and conceals the Snapdragon 695 chipset under the hood. The device has a 6.6-inch LCD Infinity-V screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and carries a quad camera setup based on a 50MP wide sensor.
In terms of software, the Galaxy A23 5G ships with Android 12 and One UI 4.1 on top, Knox Security, Private Share, and Quick Share. And although the Galaxy A23 5G costs a lot less than the company's flagship phones, Samsung doesn't hesitate to remind prospective buyers that the budget Galaxy A23 works perfectly well with new wearables and accessories, including the Galaxy Watch 5 and Buds 2 Pro.
Thanks to its relatively low $299 price, the Galaxy A23 5G can be paired with the latest Samsung smartwatch and wireless earbuds for under $1,000. Keep in mind that the phone does have a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you're not limited to wireless-only or USB-C audio equipment.
