Just a couple of days before the end of the month, Samsung has released new software updates for some mid-range Galaxy A smartphones in the US. These updates come bundled with the January 2025 security patch and are available for the Galaxy A23 5G, Galaxy A32 5G, Galaxy A35 5G, and the Galaxy A53 5G.
Except for the Galaxy A35, all devices launched three or more years ago but are still eligible for monthly or quarterly security updates. Their first update for 2025 can be identified by the build number A236USQS9EYA1, A326U1UESHDXL1, A356U1UES4AYA1, and A536U1UESCEYA3 for the Galaxy A23, A32, A35 and A53 respectively.
The four mid-range phones are getting a bunch of security fixes with the latest update. The January security patch for Galaxy devices fixes 29 vulnerabilities affecting the core Android operating system and 22 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items (these are vulnerabilities that only affect Samsung devices).
In the next couple of months, the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A53 will receive the One UI 7 update, which is based on Android 15. The A23 and A32 aren't eligible for any further major OS upgrades.
The January updates for all four phones are available mostly on unlocked units, but their carrier-locked variants should join the party soon. To download updates on your device, navigate to its Settings » Software update menu and tap Download and install. Alternatively, download the latest firmware from SamMobile and use a Windows PC to install it on the phone.
