Galaxy A54 just made a dream come true for many Samsung fans

Samsung's new Galaxy A54 5G is shaping up to be a stellar mid-range phone for many reasons, from the four-year Android OS upgrade policy to new and unexpected improvements to mobile photography, audio, and display.

The Galaxy A54 design and build quality are also a surprise. Although we knew from leaked renders that the Galaxy A54 looks similar to the Galaxy S23 flagship phone thanks to individual camera cutouts, flat panels, and a slightly curved frame, the leaks didn't tell the entire story.

Galaxy A54 has a true glass sandwich design

It turns out that the Galaxy A54 now has Gorilla Glass 5 at the front and back. While previous Galaxy A5x models had Gorilla Glass display protection, they used plastic back panels to save costs.

Samsung gave the Galaxy A54 another bit of high-end flavoring. The phone now has a Gorilla Glass 5 back panel, which should make it more pleasant to the touch and give it a more exquisite feel that usually comes with a considerably higher price tag.

In case you're wondering, the Galaxy A34 5G — also announced today — doesn't have this feature and retains a plastic back. The Galaxy A54 is a bit more unique in this regard and is now the cheapest ticket to a genuine glass sandwich design.

Samsung will release the Galaxy A54 5G later this month, with availability varying by market. The device will be offered in four “Awesome” colors: graphite, lime, violet, and silver.

The Galaxy A54 5G also features an IP67 dust and water-resistance rating that should protect it against water splashes and accidental spills. And similar to the pricier Galaxy S22 and S23, it has an Infinity-O display and a Super AMOLED panel with Vision Booster technology designed to improve brightness and color accuracy in a wide range of environments, even in highly lit ones.
