The Galaxy A14 5G happens to be Samsung's first A-series smartphone announced for 2023, but several other models will join it on the market throughout the year. The unannounced Galaxy A54 may be the most exciting of the bunch, and its launch certainly draws near.
Samsung may release the Galaxy A54 in a couple of months, and new evidence shows that the phone's market release in India is closing in. The phone was recently discovered on the website of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), where it carries model number SM-A546E/DS, confirming 5G and dual-SIM capabilities. (via MySmartPrice)
Incidentally, the M-branded alternative, i.e., the Galaxy M54, was also spotted on the same website, carrying model number SM-M546B/DS. The Galaxy M54 hasn't been subjected to as many leaks and rumors as the Galaxy A54 5G, and it may hit the market a bit later than the A-branded model.
Galaxy A54 5G to bring a flagship-like design to the mid-range segment
One of the most exciting things about the upcoming Galaxy A54 is its exterior design, which might not be shared with the Galaxy M54. According to early renders, the Galaxy A54 has a similar design language to the base Galaxy S23 model, with a few major exceptions that set these phones apart according to their price points. The Galaxy A54 has a thicker display bezel, as expected, but the camera housing design should be relatively similar to the flagship model.
Samsung hasn't revealed its plans for the Galaxy A54 launch in India just yet, but the 2022 model was released in March, so the A54 may go on sale a year later — one month after the Galaxy S23 series goes live at Unpacked. Time will tell.
As for specifications, the Galaxy A54 may carry a new Exynos 1380 chipset, judging by a recent entry in the Geekbench database. The Exynos 1380 should succeed the 1280 model and feature four high-performance CPU cores operating at a frequency of 2.4GHz, and four energy-efficient cores clocked at 2GHz. The CPU will be paired with a Mali-G68 GPU.
