A new security update has been released for the Galaxy A72 in some markets. This is the first security update for the phone after it received One UI 6.1, which will be its final feature update.
The latest Galaxy A72 update brings the May 2024 security patch to the device. It has began rolling out in Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan and sports the build number A725FXXS8FXE3.
Latest Galaxy A72 update brings May 2024 security patch
This update is purely for enhancing the phone's security, so nothing else will change after you install it. Unfortunately, that means it's unlikely to fix any bugs that may have been introduced on your Galaxy A72 with One UI 6.1, and the way Samsung has dealt with One UI 6.1 issues in general, you may be waiting a while before your phone gets some relief.
The May 2024 patch isn't the latest security patch, but for a phone that's only eligible for two security updates each year, it's good enough. The May patch fixes a total of 58 security vulnerabilities on Samsung smartphones. 33 of those fixes are applicable to all Android devices, while 25 apply only to Samsung devices.
To grab the latest update on your Galaxy A72, open its Settings app, navigate to Software update, and select Download and install. You can also download Galaxy A72 firmware on SamMobile and install it on the phone through a wired connection on a Windows PC.
