Rumor has it that Samsung will release two new pairs of wireless earbuds later this year called the Galaxy Buds Live 2 and Galaxy Buds Pro 2. In more recent news, the model number Samsung has assigned to the Buds Pro 2 just got confirmed by our colleagues at GalaxyClub.
The Galaxy Buds Pro 2 earbuds have model number SM-R510. This is quite a leap from Samsung's usual numbering scheme for wireless earbuds. Previous Galaxy Buds carry model numbers that start with SM-R1xx, but the company is jumping a few digits for the next-gen release.
Could this leap in Samsung's numbering scheme reflect significant hardware upgrades? We'll have to wait and see, but a photo found late last year depicting the battery inside the Galaxy Buds Pro 2 charging case confirms it will have a bigger capacity than the previous models.
The battery in question, identified by model number EB-BR510ABY, has a 500mAh capacity, so it isn't too large compared to the ongoing models. Only by about ~30mAh. But it is enough to signify that more hardware changes (than usual) should be coming this year.
As for the Galaxy Buds Live 2, they could share the charging case hardware with the Buds Pro 2 and have a similar 500mAh battery.
