It has been a while since Samsung released a fitness band. The company has been lately focusing on Wear OS-based smartwatches, and most other brands have also stopped making fitness bands. Even cheaper fitness bands have adopted the smartwatch form factor. But Xiaomi has been launching a new fitness band every year, and it looks like Samsung will compete with it this year.

Samsung appears to be working on a new fitness tracker, and it could be called the Galaxy Fit 3. The upcoming fitness tracker has passed the FCC certification recently, and it carries model number SM-R390. Looking at its schematics, we can see that it has a heart rate sensor on the rear, along with two pogo pins for charging. The model number, form factor, and schematics almost confirm that it is a fitness tracker.Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 SM-R390 Schematics

It isn't clear what other upgrades Samsung is bringing with its new Galaxy Fit device, but the Galaxy Fit 2 features a 1.1-inch full-color AMOLED screen, 5ATM water resistance up to 50m, and a slim form factor. It has a heart rate monitor, gyro, accelerometer, automatic workout detection, and sleep tracking. It can display notifications or calls and control music playback on the connected phone.

The Galaxy Fit 2 runs rtOS and lacks GPS, so it would be great if Samsung could bring more feature-rich software, standalone GPS, and built-in storage for music playback with the Galaxy Fit 3. It appears to have a slightly wider design, so we expect it to come with a bigger screen.
