Samsung is keeping to its three-month security patch release schedule for its mid-range devices, and as a result, the Galaxy M30s is now getting a new software update introducing the March 2020 security patch. Indeed, while other Galaxy phones are making the jump to the February security patch, the Galaxy M30s is beating them to the punch and it is now the first Samsung smartphone to bag the latest security update, aside from the yet-to-be-shipped Galaxy S20.
The update is presently rolling out in India and weighs around 119MB. Unlike the last security patch which was introduced in November along with AR Doodle, the latest package doesn't seem to include any new features or additions to One UI. It's simply a quarterly security update arriving according to Samsung's usual roadmap.
The Galaxy M30s is a very successful smartphone in India, and it greatly contributed to increasing the company's market share in Q4 2019 after it's original launch. Given the smartphone's popularity in India, it's not surprising that the M30s is receiving the March 2020 security patch ahead of other Galaxy devices that may be newer or more powerful.
As usual, you can check to see if the update is available for download over-the-air by opening the Settings app and navigating to Software update, then tapping Download and install. You can also refer to our firmware archive and download the latest update manually – software version M307FXXS2ATB3 – when we'll make it available (soon).
