Samsung's last Galaxy Note smartphones are getting a new firmware update. The Galaxy Note 20 5G is now receiving the July 2022 security patch in several European countries, including Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Romania.
As of this writing, the update is available only for the Galaxy Note 20 5G in these countries, but LTE and Ultra models in Europe and elsewhere should follow suit. The update for the Galaxy Note 20 carries firmware version N981BXXS4FVG1.
It also looks like Vodafone is the first to update the Galaxy Note 20 5G in the four aforementioned European countries. Fret not, as the update should expand to all Note 20 carrier and non-carrier variants relatively soon.
It's common for new security patches to hit the waves before their changelogs, and as of now, Samsung hasn't published the July 2022 security patch details. We'll keep you posted as soon as we have more information. We expect the usual fixes to Android OS, One UI, and first-party Samsung apps.
Until more details emerge, Galaxy Note 20 customers should be able to download the new update via the notification once it arrives or by opening the Settings app, navigating to “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.”
