Samsung started rolling out the August 2021 security update in the last week of June. The Galaxy S20 FE was among the first phones to get the update. Last week, the update was also released to the 4G variant of the Galaxy S20 FE with the Snapdragon chip. Now, the company has released it to the Galaxy S20 FE 5G.
The Galaxy S20 FE 5G (SM-G781B) has started getting a new software update in various European markets. The new software has firmware version G781BXXU4CUH1, and it includes the August 2021 security patch. Apart from fixing 40 privacy and security-related vulnerabilities, the new update may include general bug fixes and device stability improvements.
The update is currently available in Austria, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Nordic countries, Poland, Slovenia, Switzerland, the Baltic region, and the Czech Republic. More markets could get this update over the next few days.
If you are a Galaxy S20 FE 5G user in any of the countries mentioned above, you can check for the update right away by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also choose to download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually using a Windows PC.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy S20 FE 5G in October 2020 with Android 10-based One UI 2.5. The smartphone received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update in December 2020 and the One UI 3.1 update six months ago.
