The Unpacked 2022 event was today and Samsung finally introduced to the world its heavily anticipated Galaxy S22 series. As expected, the series includes the Galaxy S22, S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra handsets.
Everything about the devices has been leaked on the internet prior to the event. However, some questions can only be answered once the devices have been formally revealed. Whether or not the Galaxy S22 series has a microSD card slot was one such question.
You need to rely on cloud storage or purchase a higher storage version
Sadly, none of the Galaxy S22 models has a microSD card slot, hybrid or otherwise. Once you purchase it, there will be no way to externally expand the storage capacity of your Galaxy S22 series phone.
This is not the first time that Samsung has made such a decision. Even the previous-gen Galaxy S21 series did not come with the microSD card slot. So, it shouldn’t come to you as a surprise if you don’t find a microSD card slot on your Galaxy S22 series phone.
Samsung is offering the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ with 128 and 256GB of storage. Galaxy S22 Ultra customers will have an option to choose from 128, 256 and 512GB storage. Samsung is also offering a 1TB storage option for the Galaxy S22 Ultra through its online store.
So, if you are into photography and store everything on your smartphone, then it is better to go for the higher storage model by paying extra. If you need anything beyond that, you'll need to buy a cloud storage subscription.
