Will Samsung finally do what fans always wanted with Galaxy S22?

While Samsung made a really good comeback with the Exynos 2100 processor earlier this year, the chipset was still not as power-efficient as the Snapdragon 888. This led some Samsung fans to request the company to start using Snapdragon chips in its smartphones in all the markets worldwide. And it looks like that might really happen next year.

According to a new report from LetsGoDigital, Samsung has decided not to use the Exynos 2200 processor in the Galaxy S22 series. The South Korean firm will reportedly use the Snapdragon 898 chipset exclusively in all the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra variants. The publication reportedly received this information from a former Samsung employee.

Samsung could launch Snapdragon version of Galaxy S22 even in Asia and Europe

Usually, the tech giant releases Snapdragon versions of its Galaxy S series smartphones in China and North America, while African, Asian, European, and South American markets get the Exynos versions of the phones. However, the company may release Snapdragon 898-equipped Galaxy S22 models in all the countries next year.

There have been multiple rumors in the past that talked about the possibility of Samsung releasing Exynos variants of the Galaxy S22 in fewer markets than usual. With the ongoing semiconductor chip shortages and production issues, the information doesn't seem completely implausible. However, other tipsters still claim that Exynos 2200-equipped Galaxy S22 could come to a few markets, including South Korea.

The Exynos 2200 is rumored to use ARM's brand-new architecture (v9). It is expected to feature one Cortex-X2 CPU core, three Cortex-A710 CPU cores, and four Cortex-A510 CPU cores. Moreover, it would be the first Exynos processor with AMD's RDNA2-based Radeon GPU. The chipset will reportedly be built using Samsung Foundry's 4nm process.
