Samsung to fix yet another Galaxy S23 camera issue with next update

The Galaxy S23 series received lots of praise for its camera performance. However, it wasn't perfect, and there were a few issues that could be solved with software updates. Samsung released a new update earlier this month to solve most issues related to noise, focus behavior, and video recording in certain situations. However, even that update didn't solve every problem related to camera performance.

Now, it is reported that Samsung will solve some of Galaxy S23's remaining camera issues with the next software update. According to tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), HDR-related camera issues found on the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra will be solved with the next update. Since the South Korean firm releases monthly updates for its high-end phones, we expect this bug-fixing update to be released in May as a part of the May 2023 security update.

What is the Galaxy S23's camera HDR issue?

The HDR issue discussed here causes a weird halo effect around objects in an image and is most visible in low-light or indoor conditions. For example, in the image below, you can see a light-colored outline across the borders of the plant and its flowers, which looks abnormal. A similar halo effect can be seen around buildings, trees, and objects in low-light conditions.

Hopefully, the issue will be solved with the May 2023 security update, and Samsung could release it in the first couple of weeks next month. With the April 2023 update, Samsung solved the camera app and gallery speed, autofocus behavior when pressing the shutter button, sharpness issues in the Super Steady Mode in low-light conditions, green line issue, face recognition issue after a video call, and color banding issues in 50MP and 200MP resolutions.
