After all the major launches this year, the focus has now shifted over to the next year's flagship from Samsung. While a bunch of information is already available about the Galaxy S23 lineup, the latest information coming from a tipster is something interesting.

It has already been revealed that Samsung is increasing the battery capacity of the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23+. The Galaxy S23 will get a bump to a 3,900 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S23+ has a 4,700 mAh battery. That is a 200 mAh increase in both models compared to their predecessors. The Galaxy S23 Ultra will retain the same battery capacity as the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but Samsung has come up with its own way of providing improved battery life. The company's Light Mode performance profile, which was introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 4, will be present on the Galaxy S23 Ultra as well.

The Light Mode prioritizes battery life over performance. It reduces the clock speeds of the chipset slightly to ensure longer battery life. As per Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), the drop in performance won't be “significant,” but the power consumption will be significantly lower, resulting in longer battery life. The Light Mode performance profile is not the same as Power Saving Mode (which reduces performance by a significant margin).

As far as gaming is concerned, leaked information says that Light Mode won't affect gaming as it will be controlled by the separate Game Booster settings. Joining all the pieces together, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 shows promising performance and power efficiency results, and the Light Mode could be a good combination to get the best out of the Galaxy S23 in terms of performance and battery life.
