The Galaxy S24 FE is official, and it comes with a laundry list of hardware upgrades. But what about the software? What version of Android and One UI does the S24 FE run out of the box?
Android 14 and One UI 6.1.1 come pre-loaded on the S24 FE
As you may have already guessed, the Galaxy S24 FE comes pre-loaded with Android 14 and One UI 6.1.1. It offers essentially the same software experience out of the box as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, not counting the foldable-exclusive features. Yes, all of One UI 6.1.1's Galaxy AI features are included as well.
It would have been much nicer if the Galaxy S24 FE came pre-loaded with Android 15 and One UI 7.0. However, Google has not officially released the Android 15 update to the public, and Samsung is also still working on the One UI 7.0 update at the time of the Galaxy S24 FE's launch.
The S24 FE could launch running Android 15 and One UI 7.0 in some markets. That's if those markets have a delayed release. The Galaxy S23 FE, for example, launched in Europe in December last year instead of October like other regions, and as a result, European users were greeted with Android 14 and One UI 6.0 when they booted up the phone for the first time.
Samsung will bring the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update to the Galaxy S24 FE before the end of the year. Android 15 will be the first of seven major Android OS upgrades the S24 FE is eligible for. The phone will also get One UI and security updates for seven years.
