It looks like Samsung is gearing up to launch a few rugged devices, including a smartphone and a tablet. A few days ago, the Galaxy Xcover 7 was leaked. Today, it has been revealed that Samsung is also working on an affordable tablet, and it is called the Galaxy Tab Active 5.
Galaxy Tab Active 5 rugged tablet will have Wi-Fi-only and 5G variants
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 comes in two versions: Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + 5G. Both variants of the upcoming rugged tablet have been found listed in the Bluetooth SIG database (via MySmartPrice), hinting at a possible launch within the next few weeks. This isn't the first time the Galaxy Tab Active 5 has been spotted, though. It was spotted in the SafetyKorea and KTL certification databases earlier this month. However, back then, it was expected that the tablet could be named the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro. As it turns out, it will be named the Galaxy Tab Active 5.
The tablet has several versions for different markets, and they're as follows:
- SM-X300: Wi-Fi Only Global
- SM-X306B: 5G Global
- SM-X306N: 5G South Korea
- SM-X308B: 5G Global
- SM-X308U: 5G USA Carrier-Locked
As per the Bluetooth SIG documentation, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 and the Galaxy Tab Active 5 5G feature Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. No other information about the tablet has been revealed in this database. However, the FCC certification reveals that the Galaxy Tab Active 5 series features 128GB internal storage, a microSD card slot, an S Pen, and 15W fast charging via its USB Type-C port. Being a member of the Galaxy Tab Active lineup, the tablet will most likely feature an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It might also have a MIL-STD-810G-compliant design for shock resistance.
Information about the tablet from Geekbench's database reveals that the Galaxy Tab Active 5 has the Exynos 1380 octa-core CPU, 6GB RAM, and Android 14 operating system. The Exynos 1380 also powers the Galaxy Tab S9 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, Galaxy A54, Galaxy F54, and Galaxy M54. It is a 5nm chipset with four high-performance CPU cores and four power-efficient CPU cores. The tablet scored 1,022 points in the single-core CPU test and 2,815 points in the multi-core CPU test.
