The One UI 6.1 update has gone live for the Galaxy XCover 7. The Galaxy XCover 7, launched in January this year, is the latest rugged smartphone in Samsung's Xcover lineup and came with Android 14 and One UI 6.0 out of the box.
One UI 6.1 for the XCover 7 comes a few days after the Xcover 6 Pro
Now, it is getting its first One UI version update, four months after it went on sale. Europe is the first region to get the Galaxy XCover 7 One UI 6.1 update. The XCover lineup isn't available as widely as Samsung's more mainstream smartphones, so it shouldn't take long for the company to make the update available for all users.
The XCover 7 is the second phone in the lineup to receive One UI 6.1. The Galaxy XCover 6 Pro, which launched nearly two years back, beat the newer phone by just a few days. In fact, the XCover 6 Pro got an additional update ahead before One UI 6.1 made its way to the 2024 model.
The list of changes and improvements is a little longer for the XCover 7, though. The full details are available on Samsung's website. The One 6.1 update for the XCover 7 is accompanied by the build number G556BXXU3BXE3 and comes bundled with the May 2024 security patch.
The update is roughly 2GB in size. To begin downloading it, go into the phone's Settings » Software update menu and select Download and install. Do that a few times if the update doesn't show up on the first attempt. Or, if you have the patience, just wait for the phone to automatically notify you that One UI 6.1 is available.
