Samsung is gearing up to launch its 2023 flagship series, the Galaxy S23, early next month. The Galaxy S23 series will launch with Android 13-based One UI 5.1 out of the box. In line with it, Samsung has started the internal testing of One UI 5.1 for the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Launched in August 2022, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 came with Android 12L with One UI 4.1.1 out of the box and received the Android 13 update a few weeks ago.
The premium foldable from Samsung is currently running Android 13 with One UI 5.0. Well, this isn't the first news about the One UI 5.1 internal testing that is underway. A few days ago, we reported that Samsung is also internally testing One UI 5.1 firmware for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra with firmware version S90xEXXU2CVL7.
And going by Samsung's usual strategy, One UI 5.1 would land on the Galaxy S22 series a few days after the official launch of the Galaxy S23 lineup. Speaking of the One UI 5.1 test firmware for the Galaxy Z Fold 4, it carries the version number F936NKSU1CVLH. The fourth letter from last in the version number is ‘C,' which denotes the firmware being the third major One UI update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4. To make sense of it, the current Android 13 firmware has the alphabet ‘B.'
As per reports, while there isn't much clarity on what One UI 5.1 will offer, the company has hinted at a few things. Samsung has reserved some lock screen customization options, battery widgets, and more for One UI 5.1. Android 13's Material You design language was not properly adopted by Samsung with One UI 5.0, and chances are that One UI 5.1 will bring meaningful enhancements and support for Material You.
