Samsung Gallery is not just the Galaxy device user's browsing app for images and videos stored on the memory of their phones and tablets. Gallery is also an app that lets you store and back up photos and videos to the cloud. It enables users to turn landscape photos into 24-hour time-lapse videos and offers the standard editing tools you'd expect. And let's not forget about the almost magical Image Clipper feature Samsung introduced earlier this year.
Today's the last day of the Samsung Gallery Week at SamMobile. And for our final entry in the series, we wanted to explore a different toolset than the standard photo-video editing tools everyone is likely familiar with. So, today, we're overviewing the “Create” features in Samsung Gallery. First, here's a quick recap of the week:
- Your personal library of visual content.
- Sync content to cloud with OneDrive.
- Shared Albums, or how to get 5GB of free cloud storage.
- Turn landscape photos into 24-hour time-lapse videos.

Getting creative with Samsung Gallery
The “Create” suite in Samsung Gallery can be accessed from the “Pictures” tab by tapping the three-dot button in the upper-right corner and selecting “Create.” The suite offers four tools: Highlight Reel, Movie, GIF, and Collage.
Highlight Reel:
The Highlight Reel is described as follows: Have Gallery automatically create a movie using the best parts of the images and videos you select.
To start a highlight Reel, select the option and the photos or videos you want to use, then tap the “Highlight Reel” button.
Highlight Reel has several features. You can select from different automation presets, decrease or increase the length of the Reel, change aspect ratios and rearrange photos and videos in the timeline, add screen captions, change the background music, and add filters.
Movie:
The creative tool called Movie is very similar to Highlight Reel, except it offers more manual control over the toolset and the end result. Its description says: Manually create your own movie with full control of the music, images, videos, and more.
GIF:
As the name implies, the GIF creative tool lets you turn images into moving GIFs. The description reads: Select a sequence of images and combine them into an animated image.
The tool lets you select slides, crop them, change the speed of the GIF animation, and edit slides by drawing on them or adding stickers and text.
Collage:
Last but not least, the Collage tool lets you: Combine up to 6 images and videos into an easy-to-share collage.
The tool lets you choose a layout and aspect ratio for the collage, and allows you to modify a few parameters, such as the space between images and videos, the background color, and whether the collage should have square or rounded corners.
