Earlier this month, Samsung announced its partnership with GP Explorer — a Formula 4 competition created last year by French YouTuber Squeezie. The GP Explorer race will return later this year. Twelve teams will compete in the event, and now, Samsung revealed that it will not only sponsor the event but also participate in the competition with its own Galaxy-themed team and Formula 4 car.
The company says its two pilots will share training and behind-the-scenes videos using devices such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Flip 4. As a side note, we can't help but notice that the Galaxy Z Flip series, rather than the more premium Z Fold lineup, is becoming more and more the face of Samsung's foldable smartphones.
The Formula 4 Galaxy car will hit the tarmac in autumn
The GP Explorer event, which is the second of its kind, will take place on September 9. Twelve teams will fire up their engines at Circuit Bugatti in Le Mans, and Samsung's new racing team will be among them. If the photo shared by the Korean tech giant is anything to go by, its racing car has a black paint job with white “Samsung Galaxy” logos. However, it's not entirely clear if the photo above reflects the company's GP Explorer livery accurately.
Last year, teams that competed in the GP Explorer race included NordVPN, Alpine, World of Tanks, PUBG Mobile, and the MWII Racing Team (Modern Warfare II), among others. The event organizer, Squeezie, raced in the latter team together with French streamer Gotaga.
The identity of Samsung's Formula 4 pilots is still kept a secret. However, last year, the GP Explorer event organized by Squeezie brought together 22 Internet personalities to compete at Circuit Bugatti. In keeping with the event's theme, Samsung likely recruited its two drivers from social media. Assuming Samsung didn't team up with the event organizer himself. Time will tell.
