We still have a ways to go before Samsung unveils its next-generation foldable phone. A lot goes into bringing a new device to market. The process beings far earlier than you'd expect, so it's not surprising to see that Samsung has already secured the names for the next two iterations of the Galaxy Z Flip foldable phones.
Paperwork for Samsung's trademarks on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 has been published online, confirming that the company has secured these monikers for its upcoming foldable phones.
Samsung secures the names for its next two flip phone iterations
This isn't an unusual occurence, considering the fact that we still have a better part of a year until the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is unveiled. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 won't arrive until 2025 but it's good to know that when it does, Samsung won't have to worry about losing the trademark on the name.
It's also not the first time that Samsung has secured the names for phones so far in advanced. We've already seen the company secure trademarks for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 7. So it was only a matter of time before the company did that for the clamshell foldables as well.
The applications for these trademarks were filed back in September this year and have since been published for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 by the relevant authority in South Korea. The trademark applications have also been listed by the World Intellectual Property Organization.
There isn't a lot of information available at this point in time about the changes that we can expect to see with the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Since we did get a significant upgrade in the display department with the Galaxy Z Flip 5 this year, it's likely that a camera upgrade may be the focus of next year's model.
