Good Lock might soon become a more integral part of the One UI experience. Unexpectedly, at SDC24, around the time Samsung was talking about One UI 7 on stage, the company brought up Good Lock and said it offers “Ultimate freedom of personalization.” Now, Samsung is starting to update Good Lock apps with One UI 7 support.
Nice Catch, the stand-alone Good Lock app that is available more widely via the Galaxy Store, is getting a new update to version 7.0.00.0.
The changelog doesn't mention this, but this new app version (via APKMirror) appears to target Android 15 (API 35).
Needless to say, Nice Catch version 7.0.00.0 is ready for the upcoming One UI 7 update, and we're guessing many more Good Lock modules and stand-alone Good Lock apps will follow suit and start getting support for the next big One UI release.
As for this latest Nice Catch version, the changelog mentions “some minor improvements” and a bug fix in Sound History.
Samsung said it will release the public One UI 7.0 firmware in early 2025. Version 7.0 is expected to be the biggest overhaul of One UI since its conception, and Samsung is taking a bit longer to make sure everything works correctly.
As to whether the release of One UI 7.0 will mark the complete democratization of Good Lock, that remains to be seen. As of now, Good Lock remains geo-locked and isn't available everywhere. However, Samsung mentioning Good Lock and One UI 7 in the same breath at SDC24 gives us hope that the company might have finally seen the light and will lift the annoying Good Lock restrictions soon.
