Samsung's new Portable SSD T5 EVO was spotted on the company's e-shop a few days ago, but only in one storage configuration and without an option for customers to push the device through checkout. The webpage was live, but the SSD wasn't available for purchase. Now, it's officially here.
Samsung has formally announced the Portable SSD T5 EVO in three storage options, and it is now selling the device in the USA, Asia, and European markets.
While Samsung says the T9 SSD is aimed at professionals and the T7 Shield is meant for “adventurers seeking extreme durability,” the new T5 EVO has a greater focus on high-capacity storage at a lower price.

Samsung is offering the Portable SSD T5 EVO in three storage options, rocking 2TB, 4TB, or 8TB.
The 8TB variant had its price revealed earlier this week. It costs $649. Then, the 4TB SSD T5 EVO will set you back $349. And last but not least, the 2TB model costs $189.
Samsung says the Portable SSD T5 EVO is optimized for large file transfers through improved Intelligent TurboWrite. The spec sheet says the SSD can reach sequential read/write speeds of up to 460 MB/s.
Finally, even though the Portable SSD T5 EVO isn't as resilient as the T7 Shield, it does offer shock resistance and drop resistance up to 6 feet (1.8 meters).
