Samsung has officially announced its latest rugged and shock-resistant portable SSD, called the T9, for India. The Samsung Portable SSD T9 leaked a couple of weeks ago before a more formal introduction, and today's official announcement for India is no less exciting than the previous encounters. The T9 is a lightning-fast drive with a capacity of up to 4TB and lots of other great features.

Speed-wise, compared to the T7 model released previously, the Portable SSD T9 boasts nearly double the performance with read/write speeds of up to 2,000 MB/s. The T9 uses the 20Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 interface and can move a 4GB FHD video in around 2 seconds.

In other words, the T9 is a speedy external SSD perfect for content creators who need a fast storage solution and reliability. Thanks to its exceptional sustained write performance, Samsung says the T9 can be directly connected to an 8K or 12K camera for seamless use.

Price, availability, and limited warranty

Samsung offers a five-year limited warranty on the Portable SSD T9, and the device itself benefits from a rugged build that can withstand a great deal of cold, heat, and shock. The drive also boasts Dynamic Thermal Guard technology, which mitigates performance drops from overheating.

The T9 can operate in temperatures between 0-60 degrees Celsius and survive in temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (non-operating). It works with numerous platforms, including Windows, macOS, Android, video game consoles, and high-resolution cameras.

In India, Samsung says the Portable SSD T9 will be available at all of the company's retail stores, online and offline, and through leading consumer electronics stores nationwide. The SSD T9 starts at INR 12,799 ($153) for the 1TB variant. The 4TB model is going on sale for INR 33,599 ($403).
