Samsung's getting in the sneaker game, only just. Don't count on a line of super exclusive Galaxy-branded sneakers just yet, but the company has come out with a unique and extremely limited edition sneaker that controls your Samsung phone in response movements.
The Shortcut Sneaker has been developed by Samsung in collaboration with Cheil Benelux, Elitac Wearables, Brut Amsterdam, and sneaker designer Roel van Hoff. The company calls it the “sneaker of the future,” and with good reason, as it has got a few tricks up its sleeve.
Only 6 pairs exist of this limited edition sneaker
What The Shortcut Sneaker lets you do is do certain actions on your Samsung phone through movements of your feet. Different moves correspond to different actions on the phone. For example, you can execute a flawless moonwalk while wearing the shoes and the phone will call your mom. You could tap dance and have it play music.
This is made possible by the motion sensors in the sole that track their position relative to each other. You can trigger five shortcuts with five unique movements. There are many possibilities here, and all of them are going to be fun.
You don't expect to find this on Samsung's online store or through your favorite sneaker retailer. Samsung has developed The Shortcut Sneaker specifically for its Samsung Members fanbase. It's an extremely limited edition drop with only six pairs being made available. Roel van Hoff came up with the unique design for this sneaker that's inspired by the Galaxy, for obvious reasons, with materials that resemble meteorites and supernoves. Every minor detail refers to Samsung's Galaxy products.
There's a giveaway for these sneakers exclusively for Samsung Members fans in the Netherlands who can participate through the app until July 9, 2024. Samsung will announce the winner in the second week of July.
