Samsung smartphones and tablets feature Kids Mode, which offers fun and enjoyable family-friendly content to kids while keeping important data safe on the device. The South Korean firm had already renamed the feature to Samsung Kids, and with the One UI 4.0 update, it has added new features and customization options.
The newest version of Samsung Kids brings adjustable backgrounds and app collections. Parents can remove (or hide) some preloaded apps and games if they wish and populate the home screen with content from the Recommended Content section or apps that are already installed on their device and approved by them. Early next year, the company will also release a feature that will allow kids to replace preloaded home screen backgrounds with their own drawings.
Samsung Kids has also received an updated Parental Controls feature that lets parents check out detailed insights on their kids' mobile activities for the day and the month. Parents can even set a time limit for each app on a day-by-day basis.
The South Korean firm has also partnered with various brands to bring more content and games to Samsung Kids. These apps can be accessed by swiping right on Samsung Kids' home page. Several partner apps and games, including My AR Theater, My Art Studio, LEGO DUPLO World, Disney Coloring, and Toca Boca's, use AR (Augmented Reality) experiences for a more immersive experience. You can also find more coloring templates for kids.
The company has also added a fun and interactive onboarding process. With One UI 4.0, Croco's Little Friends will welcome kids on the welcome board, and their greetings and interactions will differ based on the situation and the kids' age group. There are six characters that kids can interact with.
Jong-in Lee, Samsung Kids service PO (Project Owner) in Samsung Electronics Mobile Communications Business, said, “We want Samsung Kids to be a partner as well as a friend to both kids and their parents. We'll devote more efforts to making sure that users see more of Crocro and his Little Friends, more often.”
