Samsung has joined hands with KB Kookmin Card and American Express (AMEX) to launch an IoT-capable credit card on September 19 in South Korea. These three companies have brought in their expertise for the development of this IoT credit card that provides features such as location tracing based on the SmartThings Find platform.

SmartThings Find lets you locate any of your connected Samsung devices using BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology. You can detect the live location of different Samsung gadgets, including your Galaxy smartphone, Galaxy tablets, or Galaxy watches. Now, this SmartThings Find technology has been embedded inside the KB Kookmin and Amex IoT credit cards.

Thanks to SmartThings Find, users can connect their credit card to their Galaxy smartphone, check the location of their card at home or abroad, be notified when they go far away from their card, locate the smartphone connected to their card, and more. KB Kookmin Card and AMEX will be taking charge of the development, issuance, and payment systems for this IoT credit card.

The inclusion of SmartThings Find technology inside an IoT credit card gives you the option to locate your lost wallet in case you lose it. You can simply detect the location of your IoT credit card that is inside your wallet and get the location of your wallet through the SmartThings Find service. Samsung Electronics Vice President Park Chan-woo said, “Through this business agreement, we will be able to manage the location of not only Samsung Galaxy devices but also various partner products such as credit cards.
