In October 2024, Samsung launched the Galaxy A16 5G. Back then, the company made it available in only a few countries, mainly Asian, including India. Now, the South Korean tech giant has launched it in the United States as well.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy A16 in the United States. The company says that the phone starts at $199. However, it hasn’t revealed how much RAM and storage you are getting for that price and if there will be other variants on offer. The phone will be available to purchase in the country on 9 January 2025 on Samsung’s website. That’s when we will get more details about configurations and prices.

Samsung Galaxy A16 5G specifications

The Galaxy A16 5G features a 6.7-inch display with Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It uses the Exynos 1330 SoC, which you can read more about here. Internationally, the phone is available in four memory configurations: 4GB RAM + 128GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage.

Samsung ships the Galaxy A16 5G with Android 14-based One UI 6.1. The best part about the phone is that the company will offer six new versions of Android, which is quite rare for a sub-$200 smartphone, setting it apart from the crowd. It also means that the phone will get Android 15-based One UI 7.0. It should get the new software in the next few months.

The story continues after the video…

The Galaxy A16 5G offers a triple-camera setup at the rear, comprising a 50MP primary camera, a 5MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 13MP camera at the front. The phone has a 5,000mAh battery with up to 25W charging support.

Connectivity options include 5G, USB Type-C port, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, and Bluetooth 5.3. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone comes with an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance which is also quite rare in the price segment.
