Samsung has launched a new rugged tablet today, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro, alongside a new rugged smartphone, the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro, for enterprises and frontline workers. It is a more advanced version of the Galaxy Tab Active 5 from last year and a successor to the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro from 2022.
Samsung Tab Active 5 Pro price and availability details
Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro in two memory configurations — 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage — and is offering the tablet with cellular connectivity and without it (Wi-Fi + 5G and Wi-Fi only). The brand has priced the 6GB+128GB model without cellular connectivity (Wi-Fi-only) at €809 ($920). The company hasn't announced the prices of the 8GB+256GB model and the cellular (Wi-Fi + 5G) variant yet.
The company says that it will make the tablet available for purchase in early June this year. However, the South Korean tech giant hasn’t revealed in which regions it will make the device available to purchase in that timeframe. Hopefully, Samsung will reveal more details as we approach June. Now, let’s take a look at the tablet's features and specifications and compare it with the two previous models to see what improvements it offers.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro specifications
More rugged
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro is more rugged and durable than the previous models. It is dust and water resistant and comes with an IP68 rating. Samsung says that the tablet can stay under 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. The device has thick rubberised borders, which, during accidental drops, can absorb shocks and make the tablet withstand them.
What's different with the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro compared to Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active 5 is that while the previous models offered Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection for the display, the new model offers Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection, which is much stronger, helping it withstand drops from a higher height or those with more impact force.
Larger screen with higher refresh rate and better protection
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro has a 10.1-inch LCD with WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. In comparison, the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro had a screen with the same size and resolution but offered a lower, 60Hz refresh rate. Whereas, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 has a smaller, 8-inch display with the same resolution and refresh rate as the new model.
As mentioned earlier, while those two devices feature Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection for the display, the new tablet has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection.
Newer and faster processor
While the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro offered the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor and the Galaxy Tab Active 5 has the Exynos 1380 chipset, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC. It has 3nm nodes, one Cortex-A720 CPU core clocked at 2.5GHz, three Cortex-A720 CPU cores clocked at 2.4GHz, four Cortex-A520 CPU cores clocked at 1.8GHz, and the Adreno 710 GPU. With the new processor, the tablet should perform faster and consume less power than the previous models.
As mentioned earlier, Samsung is offering the tablet in two memory configurations: 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. On the previous models, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage was the highest memory configuration on offer. The brand is shipping the tablet with Android 15-based One UI 7.0. Despite Samsung targeting the device at enterprises and frontline workers, it is offering the device with many consumer-focused AI-powered features, including Google’s Circle to Search, Object Eraser, AI Select, and Read Aloud.
More advanced rear camera setup
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro has a 12MP camera at the rear with an F1.8 aperture and an LED flash and an 8MP camera at the front with an F2.0 aperture. In comparison, the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro offers a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera, whereas the Galaxy Tab Active 5 offers a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The new model’s 12MP sensor is more advanced than the 13MP sensor on the previous models. With that, it should offer a better picture quality.
Much larger battery
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro has a 10,100 mAh battery capacity split between two battery packs. What’s interesting is that these are not just user-replaceable but also hot-swappable. It means that while you are using the device, you can remove one of the batteries and place another battery in its place, and the device will keep running while you do all this, saving you from any interruption.
In comparison, the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro offered a 7,600mAh battery, and the Galaxy Tab Active 5 has a 5,050mAh battery. That means the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro’s battery is 32% bigger than that of the former and 100% larger than that of the latter. Unfortunately, Samsung hasn't specified the charging speed the new model supports. That being said, we expect it to support up to 25W charging.
Newer connectivity options
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro can accommodate one physical SIM and supports one eSIM. It features 5G connectivity with support for sub-6GHz. The tablet comes with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and QZSS. It has a USB Type-C 3.2 port and a 3.5mm audio jack. The main difference between this device’s and previous devices’ connectivity options is that they had slower, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
Fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, S-Pen, and customisable physical key
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro features a fingerprint scanner and comes with Samsung Knox, Samsung Know Vault, and eSE. It has two speakers in a stereo configuration with Dolby Atmos support. The tablet has a physical Active Key that you can customise to perform several actions, such as launching certain apps. Samsung is shipping the tablet with an S-Pen, which will be very helpful for frontline workers, such as delivery personnel, to sign documents or get them signed by customers.
