Samsung has published details of the latest security patch for Galaxy smartphones and tablets a little early this month. The April 2024 security patch, which was released for the Galaxy S24 lineup last month, brings several fixes from Google and Samsung for vulnerabilities affecting Android and One UI.
The patch includes 27 fixes from Google, with one of them marked critical and the others marked high-risk. One vulnerability in the Android OS was already fixed by Samsung in a previous patch, while four vulnerabilities did not apply to Samsung devices.
For Galaxy smartphones and tablets, the patch brings fixes 17 vulnerabilities of varying levels of risk. These vulnerabilities allowed attacks to execute code and access information without user authorization; a vulnerability in the Samsung Pay app that allowed attackers to gain access to user information has also been addressed.
Samsung will likely release the April 2024 security update to all its high-end and most of its mid-range smartphones before the end of this month. For some devices, the April patch will come along with the One UI 6.1 update, which Samsung started rolling out to eligible devices on March 28.
Devices that are not on a monthly update schedule may receive the April patch next month or sometime after that or skip directly to the May or June security patch.
