As is the norm these days, Samsung had started sending out its latest monthly security patch even before detailing what it brings. The company has now detailed the May 2021 security patch. As expected, it brings a handful of new fixes for security vulnerabilities.
The May 2021 security patch from Samsung also includes the latest fixes that Google has made available for vulnerabilities in the Android OS.
New security patch brings important fixes
Fixes for three critical vulnerabilities are included in this patch in addition to dozens of high and moderate risk vulnerabilities. These are the exploits that Google has patched in the underlying operating system.
The May 2021 security patch also includes fixes for 23 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures items. These are the exploits that were found in Samsung's own software. The vulnerabilities patched include arbitrary app installation in Knox Core, authentication bypass in S Secure, Intent redirection in Secure Folder and more.
The latest Samsung monthly update is now being rolled out to compatible devices. Expect most devices to receive in the coming weeks. Do keep in mind that not all Samsung devices are on the monthly cycle. A lot of devices receive new patch either quarterly or bi-annually.
