Samsung’s new landmark display is as big as three basketball courts

Samsung made our brains melt when we visited its flagship store in South Korea earlier this summer and witnessed one of the largest displays we've ever seen — a 600-inch The Wall screen that, fittingly enough, covered an entire wall.

Now, Samsung is at it again. The company has just finished installing an even larger display — albeit outdoors — which boasts some of the most impressive technical specifications we have ever come across.

The new outdoor LED display (XHB Series P8) is installed at the flagship location of Shinsegae Department Store in Seoul, South Korea. It was unveiled at the “2024 Lights Up SEOUL, KOREA” event today and boasts specifications including:

  • The size of three basketball courts. It measures 71.8 meters in width and 17.8 meters in height.
  • 8,000 nits of maximum brightness to ensure vivid colors and high visibility in any lighting conditions.
  • A refresh rate of a whopping 7,680Hz to minimize flicker and the moiré effect.
  • 8K resolution and HDR10+ support.
  • IP66 dust and water resistance rating and UL 48 and UL746C certifications.

The giant screen wraps around two sides of the building and has become a new premier landmark. It also tries to mimic a 3D effect by redrawing parts of the building behind it and layering objects on top of it.

Samsung says this jaw-dropping installation allows it to showcase just how engaging and impactful its outdoor digital displays can be.

Of course, these giant screens are meant for businesses rather than individual customers, but thankfully, Samsung also sells state-of-the-art display solutions for people who can afford the absolute best. Its stunning LED TV was recently featured in a tour/review video of a $30 million home in Los Angeles.
